Majoring in the Minors

We can probably remember incredibly vividly the last mean name someone called us. We can also probably easily remember the last time someone called us something kind or uplifting. The names we are called—good or bad—have great effect on us because they are personal, powerful, and identity-shaping. Jesus not only uses some harsh language against the Pharisees, but he also uses some intense names for them. We must get the big picture—understand God’s heart for his creation and his people—and make those priorities our priorities.
